Key Responsibilities
Setting up sound and lighting equipment for events.
Installing microphones, speakers, mixers, amplifiers, lights, and related equipment.
Testing audio and lighting systems before events.
Operating sound consoles and lighting control systems.
Managing microphones and audio levels during live programmes.
Operating stage, decorative, and performance lighting.
Coordinating with event coordinators, performers, DJs, production teams, and venue staff.
Troubleshooting sound and lighting problems during events.
Checking cables, connectors, power supplies, and equipment.
Maintaining and storing technical equipment properly.
Supporting stage setup and event production activities.
Following electrical, equipment, and workplace safety procedures.
Maintaining equipment inventories and reporting damaged equipment.
Assisting with dismantling and packing equipment after events.
Day-to-Day Sound/Light Technician Tasks
Reviewing the day's event requirements.
Checking sound and lighting equipment.
Preparing microphones, speakers, mixers, cables, and lighting fixtures.
Setting up equipment at the venue.
Testing audio levels and lighting effects.
Conducting sound checks before the event.
Coordinating with performers and event staff.
Monitoring sound and lighting throughout the programme.
Adjusting audio levels and lighting as required.
Troubleshooting technical issues quickly.
Replacing or repairing basic faulty connections where appropriate.
Dismantling equipment after the event.
Packing and storing equipment safely.
Updating equipment and maintenance records.
